42 Strong!

I'm so bummed, I had to delete my Sexy Ugly post b/c all of my pictures disappeared! Somehow, overnight, they all turned into blue "?"s. Maybe I had too many attractive bad-boys in one place? Maybe the Blogger police got me? Who knows.

Darn it! I was really enjoying those pics.

Oh well, I suppose that now is as good as any for a Bai Jia Bei Update....

I finally finished my most recent batch of 17 squares:

It took me a while to get to the appliqued curved part in my assembly line for this batch. Now that I've got a couple of new sewing projects waiting in the wings, I have revitalized motivation. (Irena, Jen, Nat, Kaye, Jody...see anything that you recognize??) These fabrics came from as far away as New York City, Oklahoma, Florida, Wisconsin and one was even sent to me from Norway!

Here is the stack of...drumroll please...FORTY TWO blocks that I have completed thus far. Only 35 (or more, depending on my stamina) to go and the Bai Jia Bei will be nearing its next stage of construction. I may have to join a quilting group at that point to get some help from the real quilt ladies.

Finally, I leave you with one of many rays of sunshine experienced around here this weekend. My peony opened up!

You don't see too many of these around here, so getting mine to bloom is a huge treat!

Here's to stitching and blooming!

  9. I remember you had Dave Matthews in there as sexy/ugly - but I think he's just plain sexy!!! And the peony is gorgeous! I have a few in my yard that were there when I bought the house, but every year they succumb to powdery mildew :( The quilt is also spectacular! I'm envious of your skill! I DID buy some material though to start sewing... I just have to sit down and do it already!

Congrats on the peony! It's beautiful.

Funny story. When I was in high school I made a dinner for my family. It was a semi-formal dinner so I had to have flowers for the centerpiece. Being on a budget, I grabbed some peonies from the backyard. Little did I know that ants just love to live in the peonies. We had several uninvited guests for dinner that night. :) Now, it's a fun memory.

  19. The quilt looks amazing. you really can do anything!
The peony is a beauty, too. My gma Fannie used to say that red ants in her peonies made them smell sweeter and stronger - she also said to bury a rusty nail near the roots of a hydrangea to get better color (some gardening tips from the old south for ya!) :)
And..just curious.. do you pronounce them "pea-a-knee" or "pea-O-knee" (the latter for Fannie - always made me smile)
Oh dear, I've gone to babbling in your comments! Ta ta

Those are looking really cute. I think they are going to look awesome- like a pop art project when finshed. are you sashing around each one or just lining them up next to each other?

  28. Peonies are my favorite, but we can't seem to grow them here in TX. So I settle for hydrangia's...no good smell, but they look as pretty.

Your quilt looks awesome, and I love your organized pretty storage boxes. They are very Martha. Have you seen all of her craft stuff at Michaels? To DIE for!

Just got Kiterunner, plan to start it this weekend.
