Do you know me? Do I know you?

AMG from the Jade road came up with this fun idea about truth & fibs. There is one mistruth on the list that follows, see if you can guess...

I used to live in a convent.

I met Joey Ramone backstage at the Greek Theater.

I was an extra in the 80's movie "The Legend of Billie Jean".

I quit eating beef 17 years ago to protest the Persian Gulf War.

I was president of the honor society in college.

My father is a professional magician.

Just to make things a little more fun - and in the spirit of sharing - how about some "shout outs" from those that lurk. I'd love to hear from you.

Happy Monday. XO

  1. Oh man...this is a hard one.

I'm going with President of the Honor Society. Not that I don't belive you're a brain-iac...cuz I do. But I think you're just odd enough that the rest is true.

(And I mean odd in a good way of course...like non-conforming, lived a great life, strive to be a little eccentric kind of ODD)

  2. There's one of these that I am 99% sure you actually shared once. The rest all sound like possibiities. I'm going with your dad being a magician.

    Thanks for playing along!!

I'm going w/the convent, because it would be waaayyy cool for your dad to be a magician!

  4. My vote - your dad was not a professional magician.

  5. Ummm...Legend of Billie Jean. Second choice is the daddy prestidigitator.

  6. My vote for the mistruth is that your dad was a magician.

  7. I'm pretty sure that it's that your father isn't a magician...????

  8. This is a tough one. I don't think your dad is a professional magician?

  9. OMG - I have absolutely NO IDEA! They are all so oddly believable. Well, the honor society is just believable, not oddly so. I'm going to say "quit eating beef" because what about the other meats? Wouldn't it be quit eating meat? Oh, how I hate to commit.

  10. Wow! Good One!! I am going to have to take a wild guess, because I have NO clue.

I'm going to go with the giving up beef. The only reason is because I have NO idea what that would have to do with the Persian Gulf. Maybe I am missing a piece of history here. ???? :)

Excellent choices. I really hope your dad is a magician. That would be too cool!!!

  11. See, you're so cool and bordering on eccentric that ALL of the above could be true.

So, with that said, I second Krista's assessment... though I think I'm wrong.

  12. Gosh, if only one of those is false, you have one interesting life! I'm gonna go with number one: I used to live in a convent. My husband gave up eating meat twenty years ago to protest the destroying of rain forest land to graze cows. Hasn't touched it since! I wish I had that kind of commitment to something!

  13. I am thinking the convent one, but I guess I will find out soon.

    Here are some for me:

    1. I have lived in Colorado my whole life and never skiied.

    2. I am five foot, ten inches tall

    3. I have the cutest daughter ever!

  14. I know this! I've seen you eat!

  15. Dude, really hard. I am going for you being an extra in that 80s flick. President of Psi Chi? You nerd!!!!

  16. I'm so bad at this stuff.....I'm way to gullible. I'm going to say that your dad is NOT a professional magician.

And might I say that whatever four are true, they are ALL very interesting!

  17. I am guessing your dad is not a magician. Although it would be incredibly cool!

  18. Hmmmmm, I'm going along with your Dad not being a magician.

  19. Ok, I think I have this one hands down - you DO eat meat - that is the "fib". I don't know if I truly believe that or if I just sooooo want all the other things to be true...lol.

  20. I'm going with the eating beef 'cause of all your fantastic cooking posts. Being an extra and meeting Joey sound so like your fabuolous life that the other cool statements must be true, too!
Wow, was the Gulf war that long ago? I was only a soph in college then ...I'm so oooooollllldd!

  21. Wow....okay, I know some bits about you so I'm going to go with the "quitting meat to protest the war." As a vege-head myself, I'm thinking I would have remembered that. Ohhh, I hope I didn't miss that fun fact. That's some great conversation for our next lunch!

  22. I'm guessing your dad is a magician. Not 'cause I have any clue, just....um....because. :-)

  23. I'm thinking that your dad is a magician..so I am going to go with the extra in Billie Jean. AND..if I am wrong...I will be renting the movie this weekend because you will be letting me know at what point you are visual in the movie as "extra"! :)

  24. I am going with the no eating beef because of the Gulf war...maybe I am not remembering something, but don't know what the gulf war would have to do with eating beef...maybe not putting gas in your car, but not beef.
I really hope your dad is a magician, and can we hire him for a party?
I also think I know you have mentioned some of the other things.
How does one find themselves living in a convent?

I'll go with meat/Persian Gulf, because I specifically remember a happy hour in graduate school where I was confronted with my sometimes vegetarianism and my mixed feelings about the war (I was against it, but not ok with protesting because my sister was stationed in a location she was not allowed to disclose to family. The two issues were never linked, though both made me uncool in grad school ;)
So, what is the quilt status? ~lmc

  26. I gotta say the PROFESSIONAL MAGICIAN one - although, if true, your childhood was WAY more interesting than mine :)

My vote is your Dad not being a magician!

  28. OK, I know you already posted the answer, but I only read the first one. So I know you did live in a convent. Hmmm...you have a lot of '80s celebrity brushes with fame so I'm inclined to believe Joey Ramone and Billy Jean. The magician seems the most unlikely, so it's probably true. And yet you could also have been the pres. of the honor soc. OK, I'm still going with Joey Ramone.

  29. Wow, this is tough, I think that the one about beef is not true.

You are so interesting, I just figured the others have to be true!

    Hugs,
    Jonni
