Amazing Grand-Mother

My grandmother, my father's mother, was the woman who tapped into my creative energies. One of the first things that we would do once my folks dropped me off at her home for my week-long summer visit (back when Olivia Newton John was a regular on Dick Clark's Top 40) was to hit the craft store. Decoupaged paperweights? Knitted clothing hangers? Painted Mrs. Butterworth bottles? We had them all covered...and well.

In between trips to the roller rink and the drive in, we drank many cups of sweet coffee and went through our fair share of Mod Podge! It was a sticky, fun time.

So, when I hugged her that day...just about a week ago, in fact.....all of that special-ness and all of that love was a little dizzying. The fact that I get to hug my nearly 95 year-old grandmother so tightly and so dearly is overwhelmingly fortunate and, well, dizzying.

What could possibly be better? If my beloved grandmother could hold my daughter so dearly, so tightly, so loveingly.

I will hope with all of my heart.

Happy Mother's Day. Full of hope. Full of love. xoxoxxoo

What a lovely post. It has been way too long since I came by to say hello and hope you and wzboy are doing wonderful and can you believe that it is almost referral time. How can it be 3 years now that we met up in SF? I can't wait for you to receive your baby girl's referral. What a lovely post about your grandmother and I have my fingers crossed that she will be able to hold your beautiful daughter too. Take care and talk to you soon.

Hugs,
Jonni

Z was named after my grandmother who never was able to meet her. I understand that wish and with tears in my eyes, I sent you my wishes for their meeting as well.

You're a lucky girl to have been able to spend so much time with her.

So wonderful for you and your daughter.

I miss my grams so much. It hurts my heart to think of how they both would have loved my kids to pieces.

I credit my nana with teaching me about love, feelings, emotions and the need for all of them. Everyone else gave me technical knowledge, independence, etc.

But she gave me real life.

And I've missed her so much. Your post brought back all the good adn I wish you what you wish for too.

What a beautiful picture. Made me wish I could hug my grandma like that, my mother too. I am praying that Buttercup gets to experience your grandma's love.

I second everything. Having her be able to attend our wedding was the best wish I could have ever asked for. She was so excited ever since we got engaged. Can't wait to celebrate her 120th birthday! <3 Grandma
