Holy Guacamole!

Do you have one of these in your garden shed?

Yeah, neither did I. Neither did my dad, or anyone else that I know for that matter. So, when I went to the hardware shop looking for one, I wasn't sure what I'd end up with.

Here is the reason why I needed a "Fruit Picker" - or, more accurately, the reasons why I needed a "Fruit Picker":

Can you see the amazing avocado beauties up there?

We've been living in our home for 5 years and I have never seen more than a puny singleton lying on the ground. Usually the poor thing was invaded by a slug and then promptly tossed in the green bin. This year there was some serious gold up in that there tree and I was determined to harvest every last bit of it.

Pretty successful, I was:

I picked 18 of those bad boys!!! All by myself...and I'm short. Pretty cool, I must say. The Fruit Picker rules!

Productive in the sewing arena as well, I completed a couple of new owls for my etsy shop. For a dose of cute, I'd like to show off, Carly from my "Summer of Love" collection:

Good times. Hope you weekend was lovely, too. xo

I hit the motherlode of Avo's with our tree this year too. I have eaten so many I am surprised I have no turned green. Thank dog, my family loves them too or I would be selling them on the side of the road.

Carly is muy bonita! (in honor of Cinco De Mayo)

Ok, I don't even have a garden shed, but I guess that's a whole 'nother problem... ;-) The avocados look awesome, yum!! And Love Carly.

I am reliably informed that the house in Whittier, CA. ,in which I was born and lived until three had a perfectly pruned and verdant avocado tree, the fruit of which I had no use for except as projectiles to huck at my baby sister.

SO glad you put the FP to better use.

Mmm, love avos!

Is it wrong to be in love with an owl? I'm head-over-heels for Carly and may have to charm her over to our abode if she can wait till we come home. She's lovely. That's a bit amazing for me since I put a moratorium on stuffed animals coming into our house.

That's the kinda stuff that would make me want to move from Colorado....nothing else would make me budge but an avocado tree? Now that's something!

Though I don't care for them, I'm happy that you got a great avocado harvest. Happy Guac.

I really disliked guacamole until March when I attended the birthday party of a friends daughter. The friend made homemade salsa & guacamole and I couldn't get enough of either. Her guacamole was to die for.

We have saplings in our yard, no trees and we'll be moving this fall so I'll never see them mature.

Glad you had success in getting some nice avocados.

For some reason, I can't eat avocado, but love guacamole!

Gosh I wish I was at your place eating that guacamole today! Too cool that you can pick 'em right from your very own tree.

The owl is so cute. Each time I think I love your newest creation the most, I fall in even bigger love with the one that follows.

You are such a lucky duck! Ever since I moved to California, I have wanted to have a house and an avocado tree. Even better, a house, an avocado tree and a lime tree. Alas, I am stuck in a condo for now - but someday, I will be in guacamole heaven, right in my backyard . . . ENJOY!!!
