Losing the Baby Weight

When I embarked upon this adoption voyage, I was a fairly trim gal. You could find me in the gym most evenings kickboxing or cross training. I was totally into it. I even ran a marathon the Summer of 2005!

Then, I lost my energy. The drive to eat super healthy and get a really good workout was replaced with lots of TV, pizza and chardonnay. My new sewing hobby and the subsequent launching of my Etsy shop required a lot of sitting and not a lot of calorie burning.

What can I say? The pounds just kinda stacked up.

And, then they stacked up some more.

Last summer something shifted. I got my hands on Valerie Bertinelli's autobiograpy and was inspired to make a change. Valerie looks great and I want to, too!

Sooooo, September 1st I changed my eating habits and October 1st I signed up with a very, very cool Spinning studio.

My little spinning shop is in the back of our local cafe - a five minute drive from my house. It is a small, clean, well ventilated, uncrowded workout space. And you can grab a non fat latte after you exercise! Nice.

It is so completely great that I somehow manage to drag my butt out of bed for a 6 am class 3-4 times a week. Now thats what I'm talking about! And, I've lost 20 pounds!!!!!!! So, yeah, I'm gonna stick with this program and hope to lose another 20.

Time to let go.

girl, you just wrote a post i hope i can write soon. i lost so much weight between 2008-2009 (23 pounds) and was fit again. then my heart went on the blink, landing me in the hospital 2 weeks prior to leaving for china- and i had to go on some meds that reallllly slow you down (meant to slow your heart rate, but slow everything else along with it). i've put so much back on and feel really unhealthy. i was a runner, doing races, and love to spin (so cool you have that place), but so far, cannot find the energy to get off my widening a**.

i applaud you. seriously. it takes incredible discipline.

That's great!

I need to get my arse in gear, too. This wait has taken it's toll on me in so many ways... as those back fat rolls I now have illustrate. LOL!

You're such an inspiration!

Congrats on the loss! That is awesome!
It is amazing what this wait has done over the last four years.

Congrats! I need to get out more as well...back to hiking for a while, while it is still nice weather here.

WooHoo! Way to Go!

I just got out my rebounder and the DVD again. I'm a little sore, but it felt good to get back to getting fit.

How's your garden? I sure could use your advice for mine...

Have you done any baby sewing recently? I swore that during my wait I'd start smocking and I can't even remember seeing my smocking pleater here in the new house. I've at least gotten some good knitting done in the last two years. If you want to get together and sew, please email or call! Or, if you want to try a rebounder workout, I have two, actually three, rebounders.
