Sometimes Dreams Really Do Come True

I had a dream.

And, it came true.

Genesis has reunited and will be touring in North America Fall 2007. First time in 15 years!

Jzboy almost had to take me to Paris to see the show this summer...then we heard that they were coming across the Pond. (I suppose we'll tuck that unspent money away for our China trip sometime in the next decade).

Last time I saw Genesis was in high school. My boyfriend at the time stood in line for hours and got us tickets in the Fifth row - CENTER!!! It was one of my fondest teenage memories! I've always said that if there was one last concert that I could go to - it would be Genesis. I'll admit it, yes, I ((heart)) Phil. Not his recent, random Disney stuff - the old stuff - the brass section, the drums, the stories...you know, like Abacab. Paperlate and Silver Rainbow.

Thank goodness my husband gets it. He's with me. I mean, we played Genesis as our first dance at our wedding - and it was the perfect tune for us. For whatever reason, the band has always touched my heart. And, of course, the music takes me so easily back to a different time. When life was shiny and new - when standing in Fifth Row/Center with your boyfriend to see your favorite band was the most mind blowing experience EVER.

This seems to be the summer of reunion tours: Genesis, Aerosmith, the Police, (Van Halen cancelled their tour because Eddie went into rehab), Smashing Pumpkins, Rush, Rage Against the Machine and Roxy Music with Bryan Ferry!

For now, we're in with tickets to see Genesis. Who knows how the rest of 2007 will unfold.

What are you seeing this summer?

Lucky you! I would love to see the Smashing Pumpkins cuz ya know, they are my home boys.

We might try to catch the The Psychedelic Furs and The Fixx around the 4th of July.

That's awesome news! I remember you telling us about how excited you were about this when we saw you in March. I heart Genesis too! The good old stuff. Phil is one of my favorite singers. Although I hate when I am looking for a song on Itunes and can't remember if it was a solo Phil Collins song or Genesis song. I agree, the Disney Phil needs to go away. Hope you and jzboy have a great time!

How fun! I don't think I'll be going to any concerts, but I would give my right arm to go see The Police.

Oooooh, I LOVE Genesis! When I'm alone & they come on the radio I jam like I'm a teenager again. I probably lost 50% of my hearing at 80's concerts. ROCK ON!

You are going to disown me as a bloggy friend when I tell you that I abhor Phil Collins...but have fun enjoying the other guys in the group. Ha Ha!
I wanted to see Dane Cook (I know, not a musician) but he's not coming to TO. :(

OMG! My brother and I *LOVE* Phil Collins!!! Our spouses think we are crazy, but our father was a drummer, so we were raised to appreciate Phil's talents in that area, not to mention his awesome hits.

I would just about do anything to see Genesis and The Police, but I may only end up seeing Snow Patrol in August, but I'm still iffy on that one. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see: Billy Joel, Elton John, Aerosmith, and Stevie Nicks when they all came to town. I'm always broke when tickets go on sale, and those shows sell *fast*!

I'd consider myself really lucky if i went to one show this summer. But it won't be Genesis or any other bands you mentioned. I'd be more up for a smaller, lesser known outfit.

Rock out, sista

Oh, we never go anywhere
though I would like to see VH and Rush. I always loved "limelight"
and most older VH songs when David L>Roth was with them.

Hi Ya!!!!!

Green with envy.

I wanted to tell you the same thing I told DSue. Of course we are still friends and just because the group is not right for me at this moment, does not mean that I would begrudge you for staying. At all. Ever. I don't want anyone to think that I believe your loyalty to me depends on the group. That was sort of done to me....and I would never do it in return! You are one of the "ones" that I spoke about in my blog entry today. One that I count as a friend.

OOOOHHH Phil Collins. I just can't listen. Too many memories of an old boyfriend and a relationship that ended badly. He used to make me mix tapes all the time. I hate when good music is ruined by bad memories!
