Purple Pride

Just because I'm "Straight but not Narrow"......I would like to honor San Francisco's Gay Pride celebration in my own special way.

I give you Purple in tha' Garden

Lobelia

Sweet Peaz

Royal Burgundy Bush Beans

Lovely Echinacea - aka Purple Coneflower

Hope y'all are having a nice weekend. I've heard that that it is pretty wet in TX, though. I actually got tapped by the Red Cross to respond Wednesday. They also called me to help out with the Lake Tahoe fires last week! Maybe one of these times I'll go ahead and go - but I've been ambivalent. This past year or so I've declined because of my desire to hoard vacation hours for that elusive maternity leave I dream about.

Maybe it would be ok to give a little of that time away.....

Straight but not narrow as well. Love that saying. Love that jade bracelet, btw.

You may sign up by midnight to be in the dishcloth swap. Not sure whether that is for eastern standard or pacific though.

Join us!

Love all the purple! We're also far from narrow here.

We also have a lot of purple in our garden. We're trying to attract butterflies and hummingbirds, but gays and lesbians are welcome too.

When we lived in Houston, one of our fave annual parades was the Gay Pride parade - it was at night, with lighted floats. So Much Fun. Our family is also and forever will be SBNN. So nice of you to acknowledge Gay Pride, good woman. You are a gem, hon'.

I love that 'straight but not narrow.' Must put that on a bumper sticker.

My coneflowers just opened yesterday. Woohoo! Love when that happens every year.

Now, WTF is that JADE THING ON YOUR WRIST!!!????? Did I miss something?

Hey I like that, straight but not narrow... will forever be coining this in future interactions when the subject comes up. Is purple a pride color?? I know they have the rainbow flag. Is purple something extra special?

I'm still thinking about your drums. Have you seen the Break Up?
(Excellent movie, by the way). All day I was doing that line, "Come come, on the kick drum, come come, on the kick drum". If you haven't seen the film, rent it. That one line will bust you up and will give you entertainment for all your days to come. On the kick drum.

No narrowness here...and purple ROCKS! I love your garden and although we couldn't do it this year I dream daily of my garden-that-could-be...last night I just stood in the spot where it is to go and visualized. Your pics give me hope. :)

Forgot to tell ya that I checked out the soundtrack on iTunes. Loved it! I might need to purchase it when I get my iTunes allowance. :)

Your sweet peas are beautiful. They are one of my favorite flowers and I cannot grow them to save my life. Whats your secret?
