Nesting

It was a weekend good for sticking close to home - complete with Autumnal baking, meditative gardening, contemplative organizing of pictures and memories and breaking out of the Kenmore to put a bit of thread to fabric. It was good to be home. Very good.

The clouds in the sky were cute.

And blue skies made it easy for Jzboy to get up on the roof to tweak our antenna. My hero.

(Direct quote from Jzboy) "One of the perks of the East Bay is that we have a straight shot to the Sutro Tower in San Francisco. Which means perfect reception of ((free)) over-the-air HDTV broadcasts with an ordinary rooftop antenna...we are now at 100% signal strength". And, that my friends, means we can watch America's Top Model and Gossip Gurl w/o any static. Holla!

While up on the ladder, he realized that the gutters needed to be cleaned. I baked him some pumpkin bread as a reward!

Last weekend we took a deep breath and decided to go ahead and set up the crib that has been sitting in our garage for over a year. It needed a bit of dusting...cough, cough. Quite a bit, actually. Can you see Iris already getting in on the action?

I think that it was quite brave of us to finally make this move to be honest. Before the thought even crosses your mind...no, we are not part of the random group of April-Miracle-Referral-Receivers. Not that I'd broadcast such luckiness on this blog or anything. Heh. The main reason for busting out the crib is that my most excellent neice and sister will be visiting here in the next few weeks & it just seemed a very good thing to do. I must admit - it is kinda fun having it up.

Iris thinks so, too.

Gardening is so different in the Fall. Raking vs. weeding, pruning vs. planting, composting vs. seeding and ROSEHIPS vs. blooms.

Finally, my BIG project of the weekend!!

I finally completed the curtains for the baby2b's room. And, I love them. I really love them. They go so much better with the paint color that we chose and I'm just happier with the colors & style. The production involved with this pair was a lot harder than my first - but somehow I sorted it out and love the result.

Ta Daaah!!

Pic of closeup.

Allrightythen...I think that we're all ready for baby to visit. I even washed the crib sheets and the sippy cups...I think that makes us official now. Well, perhaps a bit of child proofing would be a good idea. Maybe next weekend.

The curtains are PERF! I love love love that fabric. Well done, sweetie. I'm glad that your weekend was exactly what you needed it to be - hope that there were some chips/dip, St. Pauli Girl and a bit o' ball watching in there, too. Congratulations on getting the crib up, too - you're right, it was brave. Brava!.

Sounding like one good weekend to me.

Iris is sure to be in crib heaven. I have no idea what Jake will do once there is an actual J in J's crib. He's going to have displacement anxiety for a while ;o)

Congrats on having the crib up. We're not doing *anything* until we have our referral, and even then, we might wait until we have our TA. At this point, I'm feeling very pessimistic about things.

I'm with i-Con, I think Deuce is going to have a tough time once we DO put up a crib. He's already pining away for the closed door (that will eventually be "little maple's" bedroom...in 2010(?)

Sounds like a perfect weekend. And I'm so thrilled you won't have to watch ANTM with static any longer. That would drive me bananas.

I'm routing for the autistic girl... :O)

Isn't it funny how the cats put on the chief inspector hats when something new comes into the house?

I love the curtains-where did you find that fabric?
I'm still hesitant to set up the crib, even though I am expecting referral next month, so I am very impressed! ~lmc

I am always impressed by how much you accomplish in a weekend. I wish I were as efficient as you seem to be.

I love the curtains! They are darling.

I have been craving fall comfort foods. I'm hoping to find the time to make some applesauce - just bought the ingredients tonight - and chicken pot pie, and, now that you mention it, pumpkin bread. My great-grandmother's recipe for pumpkin bread is simply devine. Oh, I can hardly wait for Thanksgiving and all the delicious recipes - thank goodness it's post wedding. I need to fit into my dress, thank you very much. ;-)

Love this post! The curtains are so lovely, I think it's nice that Buttercup's room will be cozy and cuddly for your niece. And yay, jzboy -- what a wonderful husband you have.

Wow! That's one productive week-end. Congrat's on having the curtains done - they look fabulous. And I hear you on the crib. I've been considering taking mine DOWN for the next 12 months. :(

The valance looks really nice. I want to see more of the detail at the bottom border - can you take a better closeup? It looks quite fancy!

LOVE the new curtains! What a great fabric, and so colorful!

Also, I am so jealous of your stove. I would kill to have an AGA.

Very pretty. Your comment after jzboy's quote was a crack up. I love watching the photo shoots/finished products on ANTM. Amazing what can be done to a bunch of gangly girls with not really bowl-you-over-looks.
