Before and After

If you've been following our blog for a little while then you know how much we love our cat, Iris. A good friend of ours is a volunteer foster mom with a local Siamese Rescue group. Somehow she knew that placing Iris with us was a match made in heaven. She couldn't have been more right. Here is her "referral" picture (left). Woe-be-gones.

Here is Iris now (right). Happy, sweet, very talkative. She pretty much owns the place.

We often wonder how Iris will do when baby-girl comes along. Will she be jealous? Will she want to mother the baby a bit? Will she try to sleep with the baby in the crib? Will baby-girl be scared of Iris?

Hopefully those folks working in the CCAA matching room will channel some of that magic that brought Iris into our home when they make their referral decision.

Hopefully they won't use those hideous passport photos that make us look like criminals to do it.

Such a beautiful kitty! My sister said her daughter didn't sleep through the night until their cat started sleeping in her crib. Maybe Iris will babysit Buttercup like that!

I do try to visit SF once or twice a year. The next time I do, I'll post about it and maybe those of you in the area can drive in to the city and we can all meet up for dinner. That would be so fun!

I am with you on the passport photos. Why did we have to send so many?

I know everyone says this, but you really will be paired with a wonderful match. I knew I would love any child that became part of the family, but I didn't know the CCAA matching room has so much magic happening. Trust me on this!

Siamese and Siam-breeds, such as our Himalayan, are such fun talkers, aren't they? Smudge, our himmie, talks, comes to find us when she hears certain songs I sing, and is in general a fabulous girl. We're concerned about our fur-babies adjusting also, but they've all adjusted to each other in various degrees. I'm sure Iris will quickly figure out that Buttercup is a source of warmth, food, and soft blankets, and they will be best of friends (until the Princess B starts grabbing Iris' tail...)

Iris is a sweetheart....she likes to plop on the top of the cushion and mash then just like my furbags.

I'll have crib issues to be sure. Jake is fully convinced it is his. We're gonna have to work on that one ;0)

Iris is so pretty, what a lovebug. I think she'll do just fine. There are some great books out there about introducing your pet(s) to a new baby. The key is to start the stuff now. Since we have ample time to wait :) you might want to check some out. I have one for the doggies. It's been really informative. The idea is to start setting up routines now that you anticipate later (ie. she can't go in the nursery, let's say, or where she eats changes or her litter box, etc.) See you soon I hope!!

Gorgeous girl! What is it about our animals staking out their spot on top of the couch pillows? My dog does that, too. :)

Beautiful cat, beautiful name. I had a Himalayan years ago--all his smarts were from his Siamese side....
