Townhouse Dreams

Ok, WHY did I get all weepy when I saw this? I'm feeling so darn emotional right now. These rumors stink. The timelines just bite. I am so ready to be a Mom. Like, so SEVEN years ago.

I'm not sure if my inspiration to look for this pic & then finding it got me emotional b/c of the nostalgia. Or if it is the feeling that I'm losing time.

Either way, it honestly was fun to see my former Barbie Town House today...even if it did trigger a bit of this and that. It was like seeing an old friend. I loved that thing. A lot. I have such vivid memories of playing with my Barbies for hours upon hours way back in the day.

Yeah, I had the Saturday Night Fever ALBUM. Vinyl, baby.

And, I choreographed thousands of Barbie-Disco-Dance numbers with that as my soundtrack. Well, that and my extensive 45 collection. A few examples from my catalogue include: "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart" - by Elton John & Kiki Dee, "Play that Funky Music" - Wild Cherry, "Fly Like an Eagle" - Steve Miller Band and "Blinded by the Light" - Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

As you can imagine, Barbie was quite ecletic in her tastes. Ken, too. My DJ tendencies began so many, many years ago.

God. I am so nostalgic right now. And, misty-eyed.

So, did you have a Barbie Townhouse? And, what music did you make her dance to??

Oh yes, the Barbie townhouse was my friend. Loved listening to the radio during those times too. "Don't go Breakin' My Heart" was a fave. I'm trying to think of some others.

Just wanted to say, no words of wisdom, but I'm just so sorry you're still waiting. It just plain sucks.

I LOVED my townhouse....used to park the camper out front and the cruise ship was not far away either. The house was the best though.

In hindsight, I know I freaked out my mother. All that came with the house was that crummy pink TWIN bed. Well, of course, Ken was living there too so I would have to stack Barbie on top of him each night to fit them in the bed. Never thought a thing about it myself!

Ah, the memories....

We parked our Barbies' corvette outside the townhouse, and then had them dancing to Queen. And probably the Grease soundtrack. Or maybe that was the music for the Barbie pool parties we used to have.

I sat at home teary eyed last night as I watched "Footloose". How pathetic is that?

I was never really into Barbie. I had one, and my grandma kept me supplied with LOTS of clothes, but I didn't play with her very often. I guess growing up with three brothers will do that to a girl.

I did have the Bee Gees albums,Shawn Cassidy, Journey, and do I dare admit - Michael Jackson's Thriller. I played that all of the time.

Oh, I did not have the townhouse but wish I had! I had the Barbie RV. All my choreography went with Grease, Grease 2 and Xanadu. I think if the wait lengthens we need to plan a May2006DTC convention!:)

I think my sister had the knock-off town house, not as cool as the 'real' townhouse. But we did have that Saturday Night Fever album and the Sargent Peppers Lonely Heart Club album too - we would do the Bump and all those funky disco moves (of course we were sporting our tube tops).

Anyway, I'm sorry you're feeling bummed out about the wait. The unpredictability has a nightmare for all of the waiting parents. I hope we start to see improvements in the Chinese IA process soon.

Sending good thoughts your way...

I loved my Barbie townhouse! The elevator on a string was so cool. I had the giant yellow Barbie RV, too. I can rememeber being very infatuated with Grease and the soundtrack for awhile. Ahhh good memories.

I didn't have the townhouse but I had the Barbie bath...it was stylin'. I saved my disco favorites (Michael Jackson's Thriller album) and all the others you mentioned for rollerskating in my basement. Blacklight and all. Yup..I'm right there with ya baby.

You can't get down about the timeline rumors. That's my job. You're supposed to be my rock and keeping me uplifted. Stay strong.

I had the townhouse, the big house, and that pool. Poor Barbie got waterlogged! Remember that Sesame Street Fever Album? That was very cool. I think there was a "Disco Duck" on that one.

Wow - I'm jealous of the Barbie townhouse! That is too cool! This process is tough on the emotions and we all have our up and down moments. Hoping you find yourself back on the upside soon!

Oh my gosh, the memories... I know I had a slew of Barbie paraphernalia, including I think the Barbie RV, but I can't remember! But I used to "play Barbies" with my first friend Karla who lived across the street from me, We did this every. single.day. And, I had the Sesame Street Fever album that Nicole mentioned, and it had Bert dressed like John Travolta on the cover! lol!!! We used to put that album on and dance around to "Doin' the Pigeon"... Ah, thanks for the memories....
